Steep grades, heavy snowfall, and properties that need to impress

The Blue Mountains sits along the Niagara Escarpment, one of Ontario’s most geologically significant landforms. The escarpment creates dramatic elevation changes across short distances, and many properties in the area involve driveways that climb, curve, or cut across grades that would be straightforward to pave incorrectly. Water runoff on a steep driveway needs to be managed carefully: without proper cross-slopes and drainage channels, water finds its own path and undermines the base within a few seasons.

We assess site conditions on every Blue Mountains job before quoting, and the base preparation plan reflects what that property actually requires. The paving season in this part of Ontario runs roughly from May through October. Property owners who want work done in a specific window need to book ahead. We select asphalt mixes and base depths for the conditions this area actually receives, not for average Ontario weather.
